Special Announcement. There has been a postponement to PoBoy's scheduled move and arrival date in Florida. Because of a medical emergency within my "Driver's" family (open heart surgery), we have a new tentative date of November 15, 2008. In order to ensure my "getaway," LOL LOL LOL, PoBoy is in search of secondary way to get to Florida.

Out of the clear blue, the older gentleman with the "TransVan" called to see if PoBoy was still interested. After due consideration, PoBoy told him he would not be interested but thanked him for remembering him. PoBoy had driven the vehicle once, around a "country" block, and the front bearing had caught fire. PoBoy figured it had setup too long, and to risk a 1398 mile road trip would be too large a gamble for him.

What are PoBoy's real options? If enough time were available he might be able to advertise and find another driver with a rig wanting to go to Florida. But two weeks!

One option remains open and possibly feasible. Rent a vehicle to tow the boat. Harder to do then to say. PoBoy has found someone to ride with him and share in the driving. Now what remains is to find a rentable tow vehicle. If PoBoy can accomplish this by at least the end of next week, he will be going home. Either his original driver will take him or he will drive it. PoBoy should have had an alternate plan before leaving time arrived. But alas hindsite is always more accurate then foresight. If he doesn't get out of here by mid November than the possiblity of arriving in Florida will probably have to wait until next spring.

Tomorrow begins the third week of retirement. PoBoy visited his primary physician (family doctor) the middle of last week and found out he had Bronchitus. A great way to begin retirement. Anyway was given a 10 day, 2 times a day horse pill (augmentin) which seems to have cured him. Also received a cough medicine containing codiene -- PoBoy read the label wrong and instead of taking up to two teaspoons, overdosed on two tablespoons. Misread the label. Anyway it sure made him sleep sound, so sound that people where he lives called the paramedics who brought him around. PoBoy is okay now.

The office where he once worked for more then ten years called him to assist one of the ladies who had taken over some of his duties that he did while there. She was a little overwhelmed at all the new things she had to learn. So PoBoy, loyal as always, went in to assist her. PoBoy answered her quesions and shook hands with his former boss and the boss asked him to stop by one more time before he left for Florida. The lady who needed his assistance also provided him with assistance to locate the closest Secretary of State's office (License Bureau).

PoBoy left the office and headed uptown. Traffic was vicious. He drove down the square keeping an eye out for the license bureau. Just past the heart of the square, PoBoy spotted the bureau on his left and as luck would have it, a parking spot stood available almost in front of the building. He made quick left across the two lane square and pulled into the parking spot. Depositing two quarters in the parking meter, he noted he had half an hour before he'd need to add more. He felt in his pocket and found one remaining quarter.

The girl at the office had hinted that this would be a good time to visit the bureau, "you should be able to get in and right out." That became PoBoy's hope too. But inside after taking a number and finding a seat he heard a number called for service: "075" PoBoy glanced down at the piece of paper in his fingers: "095" Twenty people ahead of him.

Anyone who knows PoBoy is aware that PoBoy actually and literally detests "lines." PoBoy blames that on his days in the Navy where he had to stand in lines that were 3,000 to 4,000 personnel long. You stood there if you wanted to eat and PoBoy missed many meals because of his attitude toward lines. He'd get up early for breakfast though and go through the line two or three times. He loved the Navy SOS, a tomatoe sauce with hamburger and the tang of spice over hot buttered toast. It became his favorite breakfast but he never could figure out what all the ingredients were.

An half hour had passed and the new number was 87. He would have to spend his last quarter for 15 minutes more of parking. Hopefully he'd get called up by that time. Finally "#95" and PoBoy walked to the counter and gave the lady his driver's license and and paperwork for boat and trailer. "Can I write a check?" PoBoy asked. The lady answered yes and he wrote a check for just over 111.00 but now the boat and trailer belong to him.

So tomorrow begins week three of retirement. PoBoy is now very close to being prepared to make the final move of his life. Everything seems to be set for Saturday morning, November 01, 2008. The trip is close to 1400 miles. Plan is drive half of it on Saturday, sleep over near Tennessee, and finish trip on Sunday. So first day of living in Florida appears to be Monday, November 03, 2008.

It's the weekend! PoBoy has now been retired since Tuesday, September 16, 2008.

Unfortunately for PoBoy, he came down with a sickness called "Bronchitus" the last Friday of his working career. Basically he has been following not only the advice of his doctors, but also all his many friends, who are watching him, as he nears the last days of his stay in Michigan.

The Bronchitus 10 day antibiotic pack will expire the middle of next week. PoBoy has not had the best of results visiting his doctor's lately. Primary Physician (Family Doctor) diagnosed PoBoy with Bronchitus. Advanced Cardiologist (Heart Doctor) found PoBoy's blood pressure to be much to high at 171/92. PoBoy himself also examined his problem in an objective manner.

After a thorough study of the recent physcial readings, Dr. PoBoy has made the following determination: "Stress is the major contributor to the high blood pressure readings."

PoBoy where are you picking up all this stress? PoBoy got caught up in an office shuffle. His original plan was to retire on October 17, 2008. However, the director called him into the office unexpectedly and announced that "PoBoy could retire on September 15, providing he meant certain specifications." This occurred around the first of September. After the director explained everything, PoBoy was assured that he would have "health" insurance coverage through the end of October. Just a few days after, the director informed PoBoy that they could not cover him with insurance through October but they would insure him through the end of September.

Finally there was the matter of "having to write an office manual." This irritated PoBoy more then anything else. Of all the office personnel, PoBoy ranked the lowest on educational level. There are many "sheepskin" holders within the office arena. There are also secretarial schooled staff as well. So just what did the PoBoy do?

PoBoy, the lowest paid staff person who never complained as he was always thankful for having a chance to work people who were superior to him, was considered a support secretary for the staff. He often considered himself the "gofer" of the group. Normally PoBoy was the second in the office (15 to 20 minutes early) everyday and he was second to leave the office upon the close of any day. PoBoy has many wonderful stories to tell of his early years with this organization.

With the addition of a new director, PoBoy was thrown into positions that he was not prepared for. He was supposed to have received on-the-job training to increase his knowledge of the secretarial trade, but this never panned out. Years earlier, a former director, wanted to show PoBoy his appreciation for all the extras PoBoy had done for the organization and one formerlly called "Secretary Day," made him an "honorary Secretary." This was done so the director could give PoBoy a basket of fruit on "Secretary's Day."

So PoBoy found himself thrown into positions he was unqualified for. Mistakes became his day. When he'd ask for help from the Office Executive Manager, the answer he'd get was simple "Research it!" Why the office manager, who had been with the staff since the last director left, never bothered to tell the new director that PoBoy was not a real trained secretary but only an honorary appointed one, is something that could have saved PoBoy years of stress.

But as PoBoy says "it's over now. He failed to reach two important goals he had when working with the company. First, he had hoped to finally, once in his life, be able to say he had earned $10.00 per hour. That goal never saw fruition. A second, and more important goal to PoBoy, was that he failed to complete his goal of working 10 years without missing a day. However, because his health turned bad, and he suffered a heart attack he ended up missing a total of 30 days in 2008. He was devastated beyond belief for had his health held to June 1, 2008 he would have completed that goal.

Finally there is the matter of writing a front office manual. PoBoy, of course, can write but he is not a technical writer and he is also one of the most disorganized people in this world. PoBoy could have, of course, dictated to one of those professional secretary's all the things he does with the organization but to write it in an organized content was too much to ask of the PoBoy and besides who writes technical manuals who has never earned in a life time -- $10.00 per hour. But PoBoy when he stated publicly that he would retire in October 2008, more then a year ago, offered to teach "hands on" any person the organization so chose to learn the material from him in a "step-by-step" manner. The organization chose otherwise.

Just three weeks before the proposed retirement for PoBoy he was scrambling around trying to write things down to make the job somewhat easier for the person who happens to fall into the same position he found himself in.

Dr PoBoy concluded that it was indeed stress that was causing his resistance to be low. Aging and stress do not make good bed fellas. However, a weekend and two equals a doctor's appointment.

Days! PoBoy has 42 days remaining before the trip begins to Florida.

Good Morning. PoBoy is up early! It's Monday, September 15, 2008. So what's the big deal? Today is PoBoy's last day of work. From tonight at Midnight, PoBoy is retired. PoBoy's new work mode: "work for himself only as required by the stomach."

What does one think of on the upcoming first day of retirement? Gold, fishing, barbeques, restuarants, travel, all the wonderful things one has never had a chance to try or enjoy. Not the PoBoy, he's thinking about sleeping.

Can you imagine being able to sleep solid for two weeks? No alarms to wake you! No job to go to! Just snooze and cruize through your dreams.

Long time no post! Sorry for all the delays. Quite a bit happening around here now.

First PoBoy's pride and joy. Have title for his boat and will soon transfer it into Poboy's name mid month. He also hopes to check it out in the water around mid month.

Second, two more doctor's appointments awaits PoBoy this month. First will be the Cardiologist; followed by Primary Physician near end of month. From then on, unless emergency develops PoBoy will await the move to Florida where his immediate task will be to find doctor's in his local area.

Third, and here PoBoy expects all of you to stand up and cheer! The office where PoBoy works has moved his retirement date up one month. Why? Well like all companies things are done for various reasons and always good for the company. It's okay with PoBoy as he can use the extra time to get ready for his move to Florida still scheduled (pending) for the first part of November.

Tropical Storm Fay visited PoBoy's Trailer home in Florida. As far as he knows no damaged occurred in the campground. However, if you have been watching the Tropical weather like PoBoy, you will have seen the amazing train of tropical storms coming across the Atlantic. Everyone keep your fingers crossed that none visit PoBoy's retirement home.

News will begin to come fast now. So PoBoy will be posting more on regular basis. September 15, 2008 is his last scheduled work day. So if posts come more frequently he'll keep you abreast of life in the cold country.

A new string of cool air begins tomorrow -- 70's for highs and 50's for lows. Well still have to work and must get ready. When he heads off for work tomorrow, he'll have only eight work days remaining. Yipee!

It's truly been a nice weather weekend here in Michigan. It doesn't happen to often, but it did today. PoBoy discovered that his "homemade website" was no longer working, so he had to change the site. He does apologize for this and also when you go there you will notice his countdown machine is not placed correctly. He'll work on a fine tuning adjustment on that machine during the week.

PoBoy was roused from sleep this Sunday morning by a tongue that kept darting over his closed eye's by his doggie, Sissy. She had to go out so PoBoy had to get up and take care of her needs. PunkyButt, also asleep on the bed, was just too tired to get up at 4 a.m. in the morning. So PoBoy let him sleep and took Sissy for the "potty walk." It's almost like a dance except performed only by the doggies.

After the "stroll" -- that's an old song that PoBoy once danced to -- and after downloading his emails, PoBoy fixed their breakfast. This simply means he pulled chicken from an already cooked thigh. Each puppy gets a thigh or drumstick without the bone for breakfast. Later in the evening each get's a piece of pork steak. It must be pretty good because Sissy now weighs 37 pounds. And her son, PunkyButt weighs a whopping 13 pounds.

Completing his "Pet Control" -- that's pet not pest (for those doggies are never a pest to PoBoy) -- PoBoy took his meds (7 pills and he hopes to cut that down to 2 or 3 at his final heart doctor appointment in September), downloaded and sorted some more emails it was near 9:30 a.m.

After several events in recent months, two of which were near death experiences, PoBoy promised he would attend church. So at 11:00 a.m. PoBoy once again found himself within God's home on earth. It was a good sermon and PoBoy knew it was directed at him personally. After church he stopped at one of those places that resembles a "Speedway" but not, and he bought himself a coffee. That's was PoBoy's first and only coffee all weekend. He has taught himself to go without coffee while at home in hopes that it will someway help his blood pressure readings. He must admit it must have been left over coffee from the 6 a.m. shift. Yuck!

Okay. The main reason for this post was to inform you of the new website address. The second reason was to ask that you press on the signup link for his "Newsletter" so that he can have your most current email address because of his upcoming move to Florida. Finally PoBoy after due deliberation for a few months has decided to use a cell phone. If you would like his cell phone number just use the same sign up form for his newsletter and he'll send to you. Don't forget to include your telephone number. Oh! He's using a service called Verizon and if you happen to be using the same service PoBoy says we can talk forever, no matter where you are, because Verizon to Verizon is totally FREE! PoBoy is definitely a sucker for that word "FREE" LOL LOL

A new work week begins in the morning. Not many weeks left here in Michigan. To be more precise, 15 3/4 weeks remain. Now that is sure newsworthy.

It's the weekend before payday. PoBoy has been waiting for this payday as it is the first time that he has not had to make a payment on the setup fees for his travel trailer.

Back in November 2007, PoBoy waited anxiously for his travel trailer to arrive in Florida. He was so excited and wanted to be there. Just prior to that is when PoBoy's plan had taken a twist. He had to modify his planning. He had to borrow money in order to repair the damaged trailer.

Finally, the trailer was ready to move. Along the way to Florida there were a couple of minor incidents that ended up costing PoBoy an additional 300.00 in hauling expenses. But the trailer arrived safely and PoBoy was content.

In February of 2008, PoBoy finally received word that the trailer was ready to be setup in the campground, Lot #292 to be exact. That is when snag in plan number 2 struck. He was informed there would be a setup fee (leveling trailer, attaching Florida room, etc) in the amount of $2000.00. PoBoy could not believe it. Setup a travel trailer, two thousand dollars. PoBoy surveyed the economics of the matter and he knew his choice was limited. In fact, he had no other choice but to go along with the program. He took his income tax return and paid half the setup costs and in February he began sending the campground not only the lot rent of 202.00 but an additional 200.00 on the remaining balance of the setup costs.

July PoBoy and his youngest son celebrated his son's birthday - he's 24 now. Although PoBoy wanted to celebrate the payoff of his setup fees, he decided to wait until July when he would no longer have to make another payment on the setup charges -- he in fact had done it. Through heart attack, and all his other problems, PoBoy had overcome the obstacle.

This payday would be his first non-setup charges from his paycheck. That extra 200.00 would remain his for a change. What a relief it is to be able to say that. So pour yourself a glass of your favorite drink, and with PoBoy toast a victory celebration with him.

Yesterday, Friday, PoBoy went to his appointment with the heart doctor. Dr. Zack was not in attendance, but his skillful nurse practioner, Kathie, was there in his stead. The receiving nurse ran through his his vitals, and after attaching PoBoy to "Nurse on a Stick," PoBoy was seen by Kathie.

PoBoy weighed in at 200.6 pounds. Up about one pound since his previous appointment. Blood Pressure was elevated, 153/91 and pulse 68. Kathie was pleased with the bloodwork results which showed finally that PoBoy's cholesterol was finally in the acceptble range again. That was certainly a battle for 2 or more years.

PoBoy explained about his higher blood pressure reading as probably a result of having eaten a "whole bag" of potato chips the evening before. This PoBoy coupled with his bout with depression that had all but incapaticated him a couple of weeks before and he explained about the resulting visit to the the counselor for this problem. Kathie made note of it in his record, asking that the counselor send an update after each consultation to keep PoBoy's record up-to-date. PoBoy was assigned September 10, 2008 as his last official visit to the Michigan heart doctor. And his nurse practioner gave PoBoy a final hug in case she was not available on the 10th.

PoBoy felt a momentary feeling of sadness but he managed to regain his composure in a second or two. You know, people seem to touch your life in mysterious ways. Just 6 months before he was a stranger making his first heart doctor office visit, and now, he would be making his final visit on September 10, 2008. God and PoBoy had truly fought the good fight in overcoming a near tragedy.

So this coming week, Tuesday, 15th, payday, PoBoy has much to be thankful for. Celebrate now with the PoBoy how has 97 days to go to retirement, and 111 days to go before the move to Florida.

PoBoy wake up! Yes, he's awake for sure. We'll take a brief break in the summary of his short life. What is needed for PoBoy is to keep you posted of current events too.

Let's begin with the number of days remaining until retirement. Would you believe there are only 98 days. Yes, he double checked, triple checked the calendar. Unbelievable! And the biggie to follow 112 days until the move to Florida.

The move to Florida will be traumatic. In fact, the year of 2008 has proved to be more then even the PoBoy could handle. A heart attack in the morning hours of 2008. A breakup of a relationship. Disaster of moving his travel trailer to Florida. Pending loss, leaving behind, his two most loving companions -- his furries and his beloved kitties. Being clipped by a tractor trailer. Locally moving from one place to another. Finding God. Going to Church for the first time since 1974. Office Conference. Office meetings. Office routines gone awry. And more, but smaller in stress value.

February, March, April and half of May PoBoy visited the depths of depression. It's not a nice place to visit. Since mid May, PoBoy has been inching himself upwards out of that pit. It's the only thing PoBoy could not do alone. So he has saught out help.

PoBoy does not believe in "pill popping" and to be honest he rarely takes even an aspirin although it is prescribed for him. Awwww! That stubborn PoBoy.

He has been to see a counselor who noted his suffering. He was suppose to begin seeing the counselor last week and this week but because of emergencies and mis-communication he has yet to have appointment number one. Monday he is scheduled to see the counselor. Isn't strange how so many emotions are interlocked together. Let's just take one of the culprits, frustration. Frustration seems to lead to fear and anger. Fear brings with it doubts, and all the things that might go wrong. Loss of positive thinking. Everything dark and dreary. To combat that, PoBoy's body seems to have gotten stuck in the anger mode. Angry at the world. Angry at people around him. Angry at everyone and everything. Only his friends, both would be and current on his blog help to maintain his sanity. Maybe its true that writing forces the mind to concentrate and make visible the horror's that he is about to confront.

Thank you for being there through these trying times. PoBoy appreciates it. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

PoBoy realizes that the time is growing so short now, that with a twitch of his nose, he'll be on his way south. Always liked Elizabeth Montgomery "Bewitched." PoBoy does not like "endings," but "beginnings" are great.

For PoBoy life has not been living. PoBoy exists for no apparent reason. PoBoy often wonders why his mother struggled so to keep him alive. Not sure if he told you, but at his birth things did not go well either. He popped out into this world with two broken collar bones and internal bleeding. Collar bones were an easy enough fix, but that internal bleeding was a definite problem. The doctor's and his mother fought against time to keep him alive. According to records, he came just 44 seconds from death. That's seconds, not minutes, hours, days, months, or years! But he is still here.

The first part of his life must have been happy. He can't remember those years. He picks up his life when he is six. A couple of previous memories come to him before six like the night his dog "Major" got run over in the driveway when his mother returned home from working the night shift. His sister, "Donna Kay" and himself, sat on a staircase step grieving the lost of their friend. Or perhaps another incident of kittens. At that time PoBoy recalls, they had two cats, both female and both pregnant. Donna Kay had them in an old fashion baby carriage and both cat's gave birth almost at the same time and each had 7 kitties. The next memory represents PoBoy's life. Father walking out the door with a bagfull of kittens in one hand, and a rifle in the other. Shots rang out, more then one, several for sure and followed by a splash as the bag of limpless kittens were tossed into a brook that sped by the house. Mother of course in all her wisdom did her best to explain why it had to be done, not enough money to feed and care for them, but still a broken heart is never really mended.

Second part of his life began tragically as well. By the time he was seven, his parents had divorced and although nobody put his father in a bag to be shot, PoBoy's heart was irreparably damaged for life. Everything he know to this point in his life, was suddenly gone from existence. Living with a strange man in your life is tough, but to find that even he is not returning home makes one wonder. His second father was far worse then his first, and the FBI came and hauled him off to jail for "bank robbery." It was sure a sad moment for his mother, but PoBoy was happier. But happiness is short lived.

A one parent household back in the 50's was a tough road to hoe. Mother was not a trained person in any particular area of supporting a family but she vowed never to marry again and to begin her life anew. Strange how PoBoy acquired so many Uncle's and different ones each weekend. Mother located secretarial work which paid next to nothing in those days but still it brought in enough income to pay lot rent (3 of them lived in an 8 x 28 trailer -- non camping of course). There was never enough money to feed all of them nor to clothe them in the best of clothes. No pets. No nothing at all.

PoBoy himself was asked to help and he began his 40 hour a week work program which will finally end on October 17, 2008. He became a dish washer at a local restaurant that sat on the corner of the trailer park where they lived. Mother was also a stickler for education so PoBoy attended school and then returned each evening for four hours of dish washing, earning paid under the table of course, because he wasn't suppose to be working according to the state of Florida. There was no social life, but definitely a work life and even on occassion a "homework life."

Mother got choice option of a bed (trailer had only one bed) because she was everything to keep the family going. There was no such thing as a/c but they did have fans -- seemed like those fans ran 365 years a day. PoBoy witnessed his first naked lady at age of 9. His mother happened to come from the bedroom with nothing on to start breakfast. PoBoy had woke early. PoBoy and his younger sister slept on a pullout bed couch. Anyway PoBoy didn't understand anything about nakedness at that time, but he was heart broken when the trailer park boys finally convinced him there was no Santa Claus, Easter Bunny, or Tooth Fairy. Life had changed again for PoBoy. His new concept was that life was going to be boring. That would prove to be true.

Around 10, PoBoy found himself sleeping alone on the couch. Something about it was not right for him to sleep with his sister anymore. So mother and sister slept in the bed in the bedroom and PoBoy no longer had to help open the couch bed. He simply slept on the couch. Sex education began about the same time. He was taught all the necessary concepts from the trailer park boys. Most of the time he had no idea what they were even talking about but like all learning somethings stick and others pass you buy.

He recalls being a boyscout which he totally hated. And he went on one camping trip with the scout troop and he hated that as well. Work had become his primary relaxation. He never made friends except one. A male friend whom he learned the game of chess and was beaten constantly. Until one day PoBoy made up his mind, no more losing for him. He began winning game after game after game. He won so much that his former friend just gave up on trying to win. PoBoy was sure proud of himself then. He'd whipped the champ. But now he had no friends at all, that is until a fire occurred in the house across from the trailer park. Books entered his life.

The last day of June. PoBoy just returned this past weekend from a trip to southern Illinois. The trip down was uneventful and we made good time, considering the storms.

There was a death in PoBoy's son's family on Tuesday of last week. We stayed in order to help clean up the area, doing odds and ends as needed. We did not stay for the funeral.

We were both very tired when we began our northern trip back to Michigan. PoBoy was glad to see signs saying Michigan so many miles. He was driving along when he felt an urgent urge to go to the bathroom. PoBoy was in the outermost lane. He glanced to the side and saw up ahead some blue signs which usually can mean a rest stop. As he got closer PoBoy could see that the signs were saying various gas stations and food exit. It wasn't what PoBoy wanted and he turned his attention back to the road.

Orange barrels were cutting off his progress, as the lane was merging into a construction zone. PoBoy had missed the merging signs. He began braking. PoBoy noticed two vehicles ahead just about to enter the single lane. PoBoy knew he couldn't pass them. More brake. PoBoy steered the car as close to the orange barrels as he could get without slamming on the breaks and possibly losing control. Then PoBoy glanced to right to see if there was an opening to get into the lane. It was just about that time that a tractor trailer rig was coming up to the narrowed entrance. PoBoy did his best to steer closer to the barrels but it was not quite enough.

The tractor went by but the trailer did not clear. It clipped what PoBoy calls Mickey Mouse mirror because of the way it bubbles out. It was indeed shocking. But PoBoy held the car in place. Not sure exactly what occurred because it all happened in a blink of an eye. PoBoy did however see the innards of the Mickey Mouse mirror hanging down.

An opening was present so PoBoy followed the truck driver around and up to a truck stop. The truck driver was quite hostile and belligerent and well he should have been. PoBoy's stupidty had almost cost him and his son's life.

PoBoy's son woke in the back seat. He didn't know quite what had happened.

PoBoy apologized to the truck driver but PoBoy thought he was in the mind set that he planned to sue him or something like that. Anyway the driver escorted PoBoy into the truck stop building and we had the lady behind the counter call the local sherrif. It took the sherrif about an hour to arrive and the young truck driver then explained his story (his side of what occurred). Then the officer came to PoBoy and who told him it was his fault and how PoBoy thought the truck driver did a superb job of defensive driving. The officer took my drivers license and Avis rental package and said he had to make some calls from the patrol car.

He came back and handed the young truck driver his driver's license back and then came to PoBoy. He asked where my insurance card was. PoBoy had totally forgot to insert the insurance card into the Avis package. He had only PLP. Then the officer politely informed PoBoy that he must carry that insurance card at all times and he said if he had pulled PoBoy for speeding he'd given him a ticket for not having the card as well as the speeding violation. Imagine driving almost a 1,000 miles without your insurance card. Dumb old PoBoy for sure.

There was not a scratch on the car except for the damaged inside of the mirror. We finished the drive home and PoBoy literally collasped on the bed.

Returned the car to Avis and filled out their incident report. So PoBoy figures sometime this week he will be receiving bad economical news. Well at least bad for PoBoy's tight budget. PoBoy also called the man who will be hauling his boat to Florida, and have tentatively arranged a cost value of 1,000 to 1500 dollars depending on cost of disel in November. Oh, he is also taking PoBoy to Florida. So PoBoy did at least accomplish something on his upcoming (uneventful PoBoy hopes) venture.

PoBoy is taking the day off today as an added rest day. His nerves are still in torment but PoBoy is okay otherwise. Thank God for that miracle.

The fourth of July is coming at the end of the week and PoBoy is definitely not going anywhere. It's safer to stay inside.

Count down continues. 108 days until retirement; 123 days until journey to Florida.

PoBoy wants to let you know that he, the puppies, and the kitties are doing good. It's been on the cool side here. Like this morning 50 degrees -- chillie.

PoBoy has had to make arrangements for a quick trip with his son. He'll tell you more when he returns. Looks like about a week before he will get back. Mainly, PoBoy is going to help with the driving. Son is okay too.

Will check in, if possible, from destination. Take care and keep the faith. See ya soon.

Well good morning. PoBoy has completed his task and is back from the conference. He left for Bay City on June 13th (Friday the 13th) but ran into no trouble whatsoever. So much for superstition. The conference appeared to go well and of course, PoBoy made some mistakes. He'll hear all about that today.

They'll be a lot of changes to make at the office as we have a new slate of officers. Name plates will have to be changed, new letter head will have to be ordered, roster changes all kinds of fun things to do.

It was also sad (the feeling PoBoy had) to know this was the last one. He was his grumpy self too. Not sure why PoBoy gets in those moods but it happens more frequently. Oh well! No more for your PoBoy.

PoBoy returned home Saturday in the afternoon. He was worn out. Funny how once in his lifetime he could just go and go and not even notice any effects. Now he feels everything. PoBoy spent the day catnapping as he calls it. So the remainder of the weekend was not much to speak about unless you're into "snoring." LOL LOL

It was good to see the puppies and kitties again. Those puppies were so happy to see the PoBoy. Of course they wanted to romp and play which PoBoy did for a few minutes before collasping in the bed for a catnap.

Sunday returned the rental car. He watched some television. Downloaded emails. Filed the emails. Basically just lounged around and catnapped too.

Sorry to report that although your PoBoy had his camera with him he did not take picture number one. One of the office ladies showed him how to work the camera again, but for some unknown reason he did not take a solitary picture. Bet he fishes like that too. There's something definitely something mis-wired in his brain.

PoBoy's son gave him a call to wish him a happy father's day. He thought that was nice. They talked for a few minutes. The boy is having his share of problems too. He didn't sound happy at all. However, PoBoy told his son they would go out for dinner a few times before he left for Florida.

Well that about concludes the factually based trip to the "Last Conference." Life goes on. Countdown continues. Days remaining until retirement: 123. Days remaining before the move to Florida: 137. PoBoy is a real short-timer now.

How about that! It's Monday! What a weather weekend PoBoy endured. First was the heat, of course. Then came the storms, wind, rain, and even tornadoes. The storms tore off tree limbs and leaves everywhere. Better grab a few of those Adam and Eve. LOL LOL

Thank goodness in PoBoy's area did not get hit with a tornado, although there were a few touch downs reported throughout the county. And today forecast is more of the same. However, there seems to be relief on the immediate horizon with temps dropping back into the 70s.

Other then the weather it was quite boring. Oh! Please be careful of "tomatoes" as PoBoy just heard on the news that 16 states are now reporting somenella poisoning from tomatoes. Even though it is his favorite fruit/vegetable, he'll be cautious too.

Here's your daily countdown to Florida: 130 days until retirement; 144 days until move to Florida

You certainly won't believe this, but it's now Wednesday evening. The work week at the office is ended. Now comes the finale. Just 3 more days and PoBoy's final conference will be over. Tomorrow he's renting a subcompact to make the 100 mile drive up and another 100 miles back. Hope car gets good gas mileage.

PoBoy is a might sad tonight. He called Florida yesterday about a pickup he had seen for sale. Sounded like a sweet deal to him. However, PoBoy learned this evening, or maybe it was feeling, that tonight the owner suddenly had other buyers coming for a "look see." It's difficult to make such deals when you are 1300 miles away. So PoBoy will have to wait until he reaches Florida to make a good deal.

The whole USA is talking about these gas prices. PoBoy heard on news this morning that it costs the sheik about $2.00 a barrel to make the stuff, yet he is now charging $140.00 a barrel. Something is wrong here. That is highway robbery profit. PoBoy wonders what happened to all the oil wells in Iraq. Our boys paid dearly to help that country. He thinks maybe it is time for those folks to kick in a little help for good old USA.

Count down continues: 128 days until retirement; 142 days until move to Forida.

PoBoy is sad to report no pictures arrived to show trailer with tipout displayed. He was promised he would have pictures by end of week, but that was 3 weeks ago now.

Oh Well! Not all is lost as PoBoy sweetened the pot a little. He picked up a lead here in Michigan and is going to pick up an igloo cooler tomorrow. Want to see what it looks like http://www.calibex.com/igloo-cooler-on-wheels/zzcalibex2zB1z0--search-html It's the third one down with the wheels. How much you want to know? $15.00. That should keep the PoBoy well supplied with cold drink. Say do you think the fishies might like their worms chilled? Bet PoBoy catches even more fish using that technique. LOL LOL

And decided to get a second desktop PC with more speed. The one he's getting is a Pentium 4. It was built for film editing so should be on the fast side. This one is going to cost him 150.00 but PoBoy thinks it be worth it. Why? Cause he not sure exactly what type internet service he be able to get: probably dial up or satellite connection

PoBoy suppose to pick that up tomorrow too. He going to have a busy day for sure.

PoBoy will check back in Saturday night after the conference.

Well look it here! It's Saturday! Almost noon. One week exactly and about a couple of hours, PoBoy be heading back from Bay City. No more conferences. Looks like he will have one more board meeting to do in late August. The one that follows that will be after his retirement date. So PoBoy has two more major functions with the Board of Directors then he's done.

Not to break the thought pattern but does anyone know what they call an emotion somewhere between happy and sad. Poboy was happy because he felt, those urges young men feel in youth, after 7 months of recuperating from heart attack. Then PoBoy watched a movie called "Eye of an Angel" with John Travolita. It was about a man in trouble with something like the Mafia, a little girl who was daughter to the man, and a Doberman Pincher. It was a sad movie with a happy ending. Now PoBoy is caught somewhere in between and has no idea what they call what he's feeling. Anyway he just thought someone might know. Strange.

Boy once again in high 80's. Yuck! Sticky. Well PoBoy get use to it. LOL LOL Yep this almost like year round weather in Florida. PoBoy be a big puddle for sure. LOL LOL

After PoBoy's doctor's appointment, he picked up his refills at a local pharmacy. One prescription was not ready so he told them he'd pick it up after work on Friday. Anyway PoBoy forgot Friday to pick up the meds, so he figured he would waste a little gas and pick it up Saturday. Away he went only to discover the pharmacy closed at 2pm and not open Sundays. So it will be Monday before PoBoy can get the missing bottle of meds. Oh you such an old fool PoBoy.

Next PoBoy thought he'd drop by the friendly dollar store and pick up some more Powerade (lady doctor told him to drink stuff with electrolytes) because it was something the heart needed. PoBoy gave up coffee after work and is now drinking Powerade.

PoBoy has to take a break and run down to local pharmacy. When he ordered meds they had them all but one. Told him be another day. So like a fool that PoBoy can be, especially this time of year, He walked out of office and drove home in a different direction. Silly PoBoy. Forgot the med. Now has to go and pick it up and use more gasoline.

So that med will now have to wait until Monday before he can take it, after work, that is. PoBoy will be off from work on Thursday. So he get's an extra day of rest. The office is closed from June 12 - 14. Conference time.

Friday morning he'll be up and headed for Bay City. He's suppose to be there by 10:00 a.m. He will be on the registration table. Registration will close at 2:30 p.m. on Friday with events to follow. One event he'd like to particpate in is a boat ride on the river. Last time he was there it was too cold for him to even attempt that. So keep your fingers crossed. Finally there will be an evening banquet but he will probably just head out for a MacDonald burger.

Saturday morning he'll get up and help prepare for the delegate meeting. The delegates will vote for the new board memembers and at noon, the new board will hold their first meeting of the year. Once that begins, PoBoy will load his vehicle with things that need to be taken back to the office. About a 2 hour drive back. Then its over for good for the PoBoy.

Ok. Have a fantastic weekend. Maybe PoBoy will find something to jaw about tomorrow. Take care.

Day of Good Blood Pressure

Today is PoBoy's big day. It's Heart Doctor day. Please keep your fingers crossed that PoBoy's blood pressure is closer to normal. Please. Please.

It's also going to warm up today. Suppose to reach a temp of 86. Some good news, the weatherman lowered the predicted 96 degrees on Monday to 93 degrees. But after that blast of heat, it appears we will be back in lower 80's to high 70's.

Nothing much to report except PoBoy managed to get five hours of sleep. Isn't that good. Didn't catnap just slept. He's looking forward to a warm shower and excited about finding out his bp results at the doctor's office. PoBoy knows they are going to be good this time. Remember, keep your fingers crossed.

When PoBoy gets home from work tonight he'll rush to the pc and post the results for you. Have a great day. PoBoy will have one too.

Guess who's home? Yes indeed, PoBoy is home for the evening. Now where did he put the evening. It's gone already. My gosh! PoBoy wishes his work day went that fast.

Okay PoBoy quit your stalling. Doctor's appointment went like this. Managed to get in just about on time, in to the back room where all the big shots are. Nurse weighed him, 199 pounds. She said he lost two pounds. Then she and a trainee take him to a room and close the door. Oh you naughty boy PoBoy. What? PoBoy didn't do a thing. They pull up pc and start going over his chart. Head nurse say "I let them sit while i go over their meds and chart, give them time to relax before taking vitals." PoBoy wonders where she going to take his vitals. She pretty attractive so he let her take them anywhere he figures.

Next comes the vitals. She throw the wrap around his arm, turn on switch and it squeezes him. Maybe we going steady and PoBoy just doesn't remember. Soon there's a whoosh and the band start releasing pressure. Oh boy! Here it comes. And because of you it come all the way down to 143/75. Wow! Finally. That one tolerable but they still want it lower. In crease dosage on another med. July 10 next visit. Temp is 98.2. He good so far. Why PoBoy even got to drop one med. That's two gone in two visits. Next visit PoBoy talk them into dropping another one. He a smooth talker. LOL LOL

Smooth until it come to ladies he like. He a real dunce then. Fool too. Gets all nervous, blushes, and just a bundle of nerves. Well still have time to grow out of that mess PoBoy.

Except for not taking his aspirin, he did good. Why don't you take aspirin PoBoy. He don't like no pills. Well, let me tell you, you gonna have to take that aspirin the rest of your life so get use to it. PoBoy nods his head, lets his chin sag a little, and agrees. "Yeah doc, just watch me," he thinks. No lady to keep tabs on PoBoy, so he know what he do. PoBoy knows when you have lady, they work with doctor and you sunk. You have to do what they say or you get clouted. LOL LOL

Okay PoBoy need to close his eyes for awhile. He exhausted. This conference is going to be the death of him. He is stuck doing it all, but he keeps going because, he knows this is the last time they gonna ever stick it to the PoBoy. Next year let them figure it out for themselves. Don't call me, I call you is his work attitude. Just 137 days to put up with the office folk. And 148 days before the move to Florida.

Oh! PoBoy going to hold an elaborate funeral on his retirement date (October 17). He gonna lay out the lamb. Nah, he not going to kill anyone, but he is going to bury his alarm clock. No more beep, beep, beep for him, as long as he healthy that is. Someday he go to hospital and he pray to keep hearing the beep, beep, beep of heart monitor. But for today, he is fine and clock is going to be buried in full ritual and ceremony. Good bye work force.

He better go to bed now. Morning come early. Beep! Beep! Beep! Enjoy yourself clock your days are numbered. Nite, nite.

PoBoy made it to the Office of Veteran's Affairs this morning. It was an interesting interview. He could have signed up this morning but after talking with Chuck, he decied it was best until he reached the land of Florida. But Chuck filled out his form with a few areas that PoBoy still needed to plug in like the Campground address, my son's address, etc. Then Chuck helped him pick out the closest area to where hewould need to go once in Florida. They chose Orlando. PoBoy applied both for Health benefits and dental. Dental PoBoy was not to sure about but Health benefits would be okay. They help with co-pays, and provide hospital services in VA hospital -- closet to PoBoy's Florida home is Orlando

Well have to retire for the evening. Next 10 days are rough ones for me, but then it will be over. Completely over. No more conferences.

Wow! PoBoy slow. Didn't get up on time to write a post. Don't recall if PoBoy told you but we have more then 200 people coming to the conference. Oh ages 3 months to 66 years old. Quite a wide range ages. And today is the fourth which means the conference will be over in 10 days. Just 10 little days and PoBoy will never have to work on preparing one again. It's good and sort of strange at the same time.

PoBoy wonders if you are reading these dribbles of information. He wonders if you have even gone to his website to check out his trailer. You have my email write and tell him if you don't want to post a comment. You Hoo! Anyone out there. LOL LOL

PoBoy knows how to get you. PoBoy says he'll post a nudity of himself. LOL LOL Sure couldn't do that you'd die for sure. Of laughter. LOL LOL

Well PoBoy is worried a little about tomorrow as he gets his blood pressure checked. PoBoy crosses his fingers in hopes it will finally be down but fears it will be up. Mostly pressure at the office. Anyway be sure to watch for the posted results tomorrow.

Tomorrow leaves only 148 days remaining in Michigan. That makes PoBoy giggle. He missed the weather in Florida today did anyone see if a hurricane was headed that way? PoBoy worries about that for sure. He wouldn't worry so much if he was there because he'd hold on to a palm tree and make sure no debris hit his place.

Well time for your PoBoy to catch a nap. Up and at 'em early tomorrow. PoBoy promises to post results of his new and improved readings tomorrow night.

Veteran's Day for the PoBoy. In a couple of hours PoBoy will be sitting in the Veterans Office signing up for benefits. He has already informed them that he plans on moving to Florida and he wanted to be sure the records would be transfered to Florida area. One day, PoBoy will need these added resources.

Yesterday, PoBoy spent the whole day at the office getting material together and corrected for delegate packets. The delegate committee will elect the new Board of Directors at the conference. Next, he posted some more registrants to the roster bringing the total expected to 174 people. So your PoBoy's fingers fell off yesterday. LOL LOL

From now until the beginning of the conference on June 12, 2008 things will be booming. Pressures will be on. Hold it together PoBoy.

PoBoy learned that no one died in the house fire that began about 3 a.m. yesterday. The house burnt totally to the ground. Certainly, that was a morning to remember. PoBoy never saw so many fire trucks in one area before. Pretty weird to say the least.

Puppies too were scared with all the activities but they are now settled down again. They've eaten their chicken an drank their water and pottied. Oh! He gave them their snacko's too -- beef jerky strips for doggies. The kitties are doing fine. We are still celebrating the Tom kitty, who somehow ended up being caught inside a closet for two days, return. He seems no worse for wear, but PoBoy aged a few more years.

Well PoBoy needs to find his material for upcoming meeting this morning. So this post is a little short. Maybe this evening he'll have a few moments to report the days activities. Oh! Almost forgot, PoBoy purchased a Rival Blue Stoneware Crockpot as another non-heat emitting appliance for the trailer. Now he has a used George Foreman Delux Grill and a Crockpot. He's beginning to see things take shape again. Later!

Beginnings of One More Work Week

It's Sunday evening. PoBoy has been "under the weather" this weekend. Seems like a "cold" is trying to take root in my system. One thing PoBoy should mention is if you suffer a heart attack it seems like it takes forever to build up your immune system again, especially here in Michigan.

So PoBoy had a not so hot weekend for sure. Sometimes he wonders if he will ever get a normal immune system. Maybe he will never be right again. Then again maybe Florida sun will help him out. Not the heat, just the sun.

It's a tough night. PoBoy has tried to sleep several times but between the doggies and my restlessness he seems to be fighting a losing battle. Anyway he will try again around 11:00 to sleep. Maybe it will get cooler by then.

Puppies are doing fine. They are such great companions. PoBoy will be sad to leave them. He hopes they will understand why he had to do what he had to do. Blubbery PoBoy again. He must be suffering an emotional event again.

Well at this time tomorrow PoBoy will be readying himself for the visit to Veterans Affair so perhaps Tuesday night he will have more to tell you. Keep your fingers crossed, Okay?

Likewise the kitties are all doing great. They are eating me out of house and home like the puppies. PoBoy enjoys watching them eat. They are so fragile like a good heart.

PoBoy added a couple of links above. They are direct links to his campground. There's the main link from which you can explore the campground like he did before visiting the place. The second link talks about "amentities" that he will have at his disposal. Quite a list and more. At the bottom of that page you'll also see a link to a map of the campground. If you look close you will see Lot #292 on Pine Ridge Circle. That's PoBoy's lot. Yes for sure it is. He's been making payments on that lot since December 2007.

If by chance we should get separated when PoBoy moves you can mail him at the campground. You have his lot number and the road he lives on. The rest of address is on the main page.

PoBoy will try to lie down again. The monitor is burning his eyes tonight. PoBoy just loves to catch a cold. LOL LOL

Welcome to Monday, June 02, 2008PoBoy is up and moving. Doggies got pottied earlier. It was a scary time for them. Something happened outside with screaming police cars, fire trucks, ambulances, para-medics. Not sure what it was all about but there were 5 emergency vehicles parked on the street PoBoy lives on. He's sure he'll pick up some information when he goes to buy 3 gallons of gas at 4.14 a gallon. He'll need to spend 12.42 cents for that. Thank goodness for the four cylinder truck he drives. It should last him until about Thursday.

PoBoy is going to rent a car to go to the conference. He's renting it from Avis for about 54.00 plus tax and gas. Yuck! On the gas prices. Boo! Boo!

Well PoBoy better get up and feed the puppies now. Chicken. Yeah! Yeah! They love it. They each get a drum stick without the bone of course. Supper they each get a pork chop. That didn't take long did it? Each of the puppies are eating their breakfast. I see they need their water bowl filled. Okay that is finished now. Boy! I'm a speedy one.

Next on the morning agenda is the kitties. Okay. Time for them now. Gee! They didn't eat all their night time food. Okay throw away the old can food and get them some fresh. Okay they have fresh can food. PoBoy thinks he'll leave the dry and see if they will finish it off by the time he gets home. Change it tonight.

Okay now its time for PoBoy. He's not much of a breakfast hound unless there is a platter of biscuits and gravy looking at him. Those biscuits don't stand a chance. Oh No! No biscuits and gravy this morning. No breakfast for PoBoy.

That gives me an extra few minutes to post this brief event. You take it easy and have a great day. God Bless you.

Change in Sleeping Habits

This is my blog address:

This is my new website:

http://poboy42.myweb.io/

It's Saturday and it's also the last day of May. Tomorrow morning, June 1, 2008 PoBoy would have completed ten years in the office "without missing a day." He has no idea why this turned out to be an important goal for him but it did. To come so close, and suffer a defeat is devastating.

PoBoy is not his usual self today. First he didn't sleep well last night, and today he has the strangest feeling. He feels like he's on "drugs." So most of Saturday he has slept and he hopes to sleep more this evening.

PoBoy was hoping that a PC tech would drop by today. He had talked to him recently about the desk top pc. PoBoy would like to beef up the capacity of his desktop. PoBoy also asked about having pc set up, for communication purposes, with all three methods: dialup, satellite, and cable. Not sure if it can be done but it would be nice to have available. That way no matter what the campground area offers for connectivity he can just plug right in. Oh! Of course he has to pay first. LOL LOL

It's early Sunday morning, very early about 3:00 a.m. PoBoy has developed a new problem. It's called sleeping. No longer can he sleep a straight eight. He wakes up at the weirdest times. Guess the old body is changing. For the better he hopes. Maybe it has something to do with stress. The office is sure stressful at this time of year. The room he rents is just that a room but the landlord has a bunch of teens visiting throughout the summer. More stress for sure. The trailer situation is also stressful. Trying to get things accomplished when your 1300 miles from the place has to be stressful. Hurricane season begins today. Ah! More stress. And there is the nagging problem of trying to make arrangements to move South. Not to mention the inflation throughout the country. Stress.

Gosh! No wonder PoBoy's sleeping habits are changing. Is there anything like peace and quiet left in the world. PoBoy sure could use a double dose of that.

6:33 As you can see PoBoy catnapped again. Anyway he's up again and had pottied his puppies and fed them and watered them too. Next is the kitties when they begin stirring. Let's see. He's feeling a little better now. Vicks opened up his sinus passages. He wishes he could eat better but he knows he must sacrifice to have enough dollars to complete his move to Florida.

Besides the office being busy this week, PoBoy has a couple of personal items to inquire about. Tuesday morning, he will visit the Veteran's Administration Building and hopefully to get signed up for benefits offered. PoBoy served in the U.S. Navy on active duty from June 1960 until June 1964. He was honorably discharged. PoBoy has been reading and it seems that only the active duty times count for benefits. He also served two years inactive duty time from June 1964 until June 1966. PoBoy wonders if they will count the two weeks he spent on active duty for each of those years.

PoBoy also did three years with the Florida National Guard. There too, like inactive duty in the Navy, he did two weeks a year on active duty.

Well PoBoy will hope for the best. He is sure that in the not too distant future he will need the extras. The fate of the old is to make doctor's and hospital's richer.

PoBoy, when his time comes, will, in away, miss this old world. He has no claim to glory. No war stories to tell. Actually he has done nothing to increase the value of the world, nor has he done anything to detract from its beauty. Maybe his puppies and kitties will count for something special in the end. His one laurel for the world.

Gee! PoBoy is getting morbid this morning. He calls it reality checking. But hey! It's June 01, 2008. One half year will be gone at the end of this month. And he has friends in all who read his blog and website. May God Bless all of you always.

Stop By Beginnings of New Website

This is my blog address:

http://retire42.blogspot.com/

This is my new website:

http://poboy42.myweb.io/

Oh! PoBoy created a website last evening. It's only one page for now, but it will grow in time. Please take time to visit PoBoy's Newsletter. You'll be glad you did.

Quick summary of webpage. A picture of an alligator and a picture of PoBoy. Three pictures of PoBoy's trailer. A link to PoBoy's campground. An article about work weeks being shortened to offset "high gasoline prices." Lots of good stuff on one page.

Time for bed. Gosh! It's after midnight. PoBoy will either post in this morning or wait til he gets home tomorrow evening. Definitely PoBoy will have something bright and witty to say. LOL LOL LOL

Okay! PoBoy didn't want you to worry about him, so he's posting a short morning post for you. Yes, he's awake! Actually, he managed to drag himself out of bed around 5:15 a.m. That is the norm for your PoBoy. He normally gets up and cuts on the computer and then spends about an hour sorting and filing email. He's an avid collector of recipes even though he burns a pot of boiling water. LOL LOL One day he believes he'll learn to cook. LOL LOL

PoBoy also watches the weather too! This morning, currently, 62 degrees with the forecast showing severe storms coming in late this afternoon. The storms will feature heavy winds and a good chance of hail. The storms are to extend throughout the evening hours. It's possible he won't be able to get online this evening so he'll put up this partial post this morning -- and he'll hope for the best this evening.

PoBoy his happy to report that all his furries are doing great. Actually eating him out of house and home. They too, follow the habits of PoBoy, both rising when he does and climbing into bed at the same time he does. It gives PoBoy a sense of security to know they are here.

The office is becoming a machine. Everyone is buzzing around to accomplish their prescribed mission. Next week, being the last full week before the Annual Conference, the workload will be cresting its peak. He has to slip off twice next week for appointments.

PoBoy's first appointment will be with the Office of Veterans Affairs. He's planning on signing up at least for the medical benefits offered, as he knows that in the near future he will need all the assistance he can get. You can't live forever, he mulls over in his mind. Then again if he follows the footprints of Ponce de Leon, he just might stumble upon the mystical "Fountain of Youth."

PoBoy, you old fool, don't you know that the doctor's appointment is your safety line to a few more years of life. Indeed he does. Thursday, he'll be making his visit to the "Heart Specialist." They will basiclly be concentrating on his blood pressure. Stress. Stress. Stress. He definitely needs some release from that. Hold together PoBoy. Remember only 8 more working days before the conference and the rest you desire.

Well folks, PoBoy extends his sincerest best wishes for an enjoyable two day weekend. Remember in just only 34 days we'll once again be experiencing a 3 day weekend -- the Fourth of July (Independence Day) is about to arrive. Looking forward to that one -- but the puppies are not. They don't like the loud noises.

Woes of Conference Time

This is my blog address:

http://retire42.blogspot.com/

PoBoy! PoBoy! Wake up! Buzz! Buzz! Snooze! Snooze! Beep! Beep! Yep! The alarm clock won. He's up and going again.

Let's see it's Thursday. Oh! My! Time to take the meds. Well it's almost 7:00 a.m. Potty call for the furries. The doggies at least. Kitties use your litter box. Now we're cooking.

The way PoBoy's mornings begin. PoBoy thinks its about the same for everyone. Rich or Poor we all roll out in the mornings. Funny, PoBoy thinks, how everyday for at least a few minutets we are all equal. It's afterwards, PoBoy believes, where we differentiate ourselves. Like a chess match, we each try to win our fair share of the game of life.

Okay PoBoy so what happens when you retire? Well as PoBoy has figured it out your body begins going downhill. Some folks don't show the signs outwardly as much as others -- but definitely the body is beginning to fail. You will notice it yourself, as you age, because you can't do the things you once did. Maybe that's why "those in the know" suggest finding something new to do. Perhaps an old hobby that you can redevelop. PoBoy thinks, but cannot find a hobby that he really would get excited about. There must be something.

Since PoBoy is self-taught in just about everything he feels that to continue learning would be a good idea. Here's a project idea, to learn to build a pc from scratch. can he do it? He is not mechanically adept, but he can follow instructions. Maybe. No hurry either. Take his time and build one. Beginning to sound great to him.

Not yet, PoBoy you still have 140 days to retirement day and about 155 days before the move to Florida. In between he has asked a man with 30 years of pc experience to customize one desktop pc that he can depend on when he reaches Florida. PoBoy is still in the beginning stages of exactly what he would like as his ultimate pc. How much does he want to spend on a customized pc? Well he'll discuss that with the "honest technician" who is to visit him on Saturday.

PoBoy, always trying to think ahead, has contacted the Veterans Administration for an interview. He figures that he will need sources of services in the future. Like a good boy scout, PoBoy believes in being prepared. Oh! The appointment is for Tuesday morning. Don't forget to bring your paperwork PoBoy.

Thursday later morning, PoBoy will be meeting with his heart doctor, actually the licensed practioner: Nurse Kathy. He'll find out how the new dosage of bp pills is doing in his system. Probably lousy as pressure mounts daily as the organization where he works nears Annual Conference time.

He was told he had to get a "delegate packet" together to be reviewed by the Finance Committee tomorrow. So today he'll spend most of his day trying to remember the chunks of info that must be included. He spoke with the office executive manager about travel expense check because he plans to rent a car for the trip. A check will be cut for travel probably towards the end of next week. He needs 57.00 for that plus gasoline for the 202 mile round trip. He'll rent a sub-compact for the trip to conserve on gasoline.

All the furries are here again. Missing kitty (2 days) turned up in a closet. The puppies always make PoBoy laugh and they are so lovable. Mr. Punkybutt had to lie in the crook of PoBoy's arm last night and have his "tum tum" rubbed. He enjoys that. Soon both he and Sissy were fast asleep.

Well PoBoy notes the clock talking to him again. It's "shower and shave" time. So until later...have a great day.

Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow

This is my blog address:

http://retire42.blogspot.com/

And PoBoy is home again! Yipee! Tomorrow is Wednesday, half way through the week already. Signed up 13 more registrants for our conference. Total is 124 people (children and adults). The center two lanes on the main highway will be opened in a couple of days. Traffic won't be bottlenecked so bad. So that does it for the office except minor skirmishes and the like.

PoBoy's countdown to retirement is now 143 days. His countdown to the Florida is now 157 days. PoBoy sees himself as a short-timer now. Get through the conference PoBoy and the remainder of the days will be "easy street." One after the other, the days will slowly pass -- anticipation makes it slow but exciting at the same time.

PC is now running fine so PoBoy will be able to post his hectic few days before the conference. Everyone keep their fingers crossed as PoBoy will be heading north and east on Friday, the 13th of June. He'll come back on Saturday, the 14th of June -- a better, glorious day for sure.

Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow. Ya'll come back again.

Temperatures Beat the Rise and Fall of Gas

This is my blog address:

http://retire42.blogspot.com/

The first of the Big Three Summer holidays is over. Back to work for us unfortunate souls. With the termination of Memorial Day the weather seems to have suffered a major malfunction too.

Memorial Day highs reached the 80's. Today highs expected to be near 60. However, unlike last night with highs in the mid 50's, tonight's highs are to drop into the 30's. PoBoy shivers at that thought and tends to blame his cold on the sudden changes in temperatures. Florida temps are in the mid 80's and have been in the 90's. How will PoBoy learn to temperatures like that?

This is a short work week for PoBoy. With the holiday falling on a Monday, he only has to work four days this week. PoBoy's first thought is that will save him on gas. It's over $4.00 a gallon up this way. Can you imagine that? I've often wondered why it takes the Government to act on items like this. They new it was coming. Maybe we should revert to the horse and buggy days. Not a good idea PoBoy. PoBoy would have to get up even earlier then he does to harness the horses and secure them to the rig. Of course, he'd have to feed them too. Probably tidy up their stall. Nope, PoBoy figures that is not a good idea at all.

PoBoy went shopping this weekend and again he was surprised at the ever increasing cost of groceries. How are people ever going to be able to eat "Healthy?" PoBoy's son called, of course seeking a loan, because he can't even afford to get a tire repaired to go to work. Its truly ashame at what is happening in this wonderful country. Ok PoBoy step down from the speakers stand. You get carried away all the time.

Here's a picture of PoBoy's Retirement home:

Sorry no picture available. PoBoy will have to figure out how to do this. Thank you for your patience.

You, if you look close, can see that the tipout is still inside the trailer. However, great news from the campground. Since the taking of this picture the tipout has been tipped out where it should be. Pictures, PoBoy is told will be forth coming, perhaps this week. Anyway that's what PoBoy has to work with when he arrives in November. It's going to need some paint trimming (to get rid of the rust) and inside the trailer he has to order a bed, a refridgerator, a stove, and a television. That will get him started on the inside. Oh! PoBoy is going to celebrate on the 15th of June. He will have paid off the required setup fees. Now he can settle in to some kind of budget. Yipee! Things are beginning to look up again.

He also hopes when he returns to the heart doctor next Monday that he will get better reports on his blood pressure reading. It's been high the past month. Not good for the heart, PoBoy.

It's time for PoBoy to cut off this post because its time for him to ready himself for work. He'll try to finish this post this evening providing the cable doesn't go out again. Aggravating to say the least.

Memorial Day Memories

This is my blog address:

http://retire42.blogspot.com/

PoBoy and puppies and kitties are all doing fine. PoBoy woke about midnight on Memorial Day. Since his heart attack, PoBoy finds it difficult to sleep an eight hour shift. His new sleeping habits have been one of "catnapping." For example, just yesterday he "catnapped" through the racing of the "Indy 500." Then he woke for perhaps an hour or two and once again "catnapped" through the "Coke Cola 600." Who won the races he wonders.

Memorial Day as a young man, PoBoy recalls the family within which his two Uncles on his mother's side would relate tidbits of fighting during World War II. For example, one Uncle was a sargent in the Army and he won a medal for holding off an advancing troop of Germans on his company. PoBoy thinks of the feeling he had when he heard that story. The feeling was a mixture of admiration and excitement. Then there was his second Uncle who had been a truck driver in World War II. He told of the many attacks he overcame along the Burma Road. Again the feelings of admiration and excitement. One supreme emotion was left for him as the evening closed -- one of joy, joy that they had returned safe and sound.

PoBoy felt sadness too. His father had been rejected from the service because of a steel plate in his head. Father, was going to school one wintry morning when a car struck him and sped off down the road. He lay in a damp ditch crusted with ice dying from a head wound. Luckily, someone saw him lying there and he was rushed to a nearby hospital. When father told his story a different emotion arose in PoBoy. It was one of anger and bitterness. Yet, Father was no less a hero then PoBoy's Uncles.

When PoBoy was 5 1/2 to 6 years of age, his mother divorced Father because, as PoBoy learned later in life, Father was not smart, according to his Mother. Mother remarried a second time, to a man, PoBoy was forced to acknowledge as Father. To PoBoy that never felt right. PoBoy's second Father was a war hero too with a box of medals to prove it. PoBoy's second Father had also come home with a German knife and sheath; and a German Luger pistol. PoBoy's emotion at that time was one of fear. PoBoy never liked his Second Father. This story ends, so he learned later, with his Second Father being escorted to prison by the FBI. Second Father had borrowed Mother's car which was used in a bank robbery.

Mother and her two children were left stranded in the state of Florida to struggle for an existence. PoBoy's life changed forever on that day. There were no more hero's except in books which PoBoy came to love more then life. PoBoy called his books his world and he tolerated the outer world around him. Hatred grew within PoBoy like a weed, hatred of his mother for destroying PoBoy's youth, hatred of the world for its cruelty to the poor, hatred of life and even God for allowing such a thing to happen. PoBoy grew to hate himself as well.

There is one more person left to do the military thing. PoBoy himself. He was conscripted into the service and having few choices, he was allowed to enlist in a branch of his choice instead of being drafted into the Army. PoBoy chose to serve in the US Navy. PoBoy spent four years of active duty and two years of inactive duty in the Navy. He helped blockade the coast of Cuba during the most crucial moments of the world. He never received a medal for that endeavor although the world came within a couple of hours of total Nuclear War. Because no "shots" were fired in this action, PoBoy was never awarded a medal nor acclaimed to be a War Veteran. Just some more of the cruelty of life. But was PoBoy a hero or a coward -- a dilemma that lasted a full lifetime for PoBoy.

PoBoy would never have the privilege of telling his children the stories told to him by his Uncles. Stories which will never be known of the heroism of their Father or perhaps his cowardice. These inner battles continue to wage within the heart of PoBoy.

Gee! I didn't mean for all those thoughts to come out here. Guess I'm thinking again. Sorry folks. I'll try to do better with the next posting.

Decisions Don't Get Easier With Age

Wow! The long weekend, first one since February -- President's Day. It's certainly been a long stretch -- too long PoBoy think. PoBoy calls these the Big Three summer holidays: Memorial Day, Independence Day and Labor Day.

Anyway it's here, right? Well it was here for a short -- noon today it will be half gone. Worse. PoBoy has done absolutely nothing. Oh well shouldn't lie too much, as he did run his adware/spyware cleanup program, and cleaned his disk of old files using Ccleaner and MS built in program. Finally PoBoy ran the defrag about 4 times to tighten the files. But that's about all he did that could be considered an accomplishment of sorts.

Today will be similar. PoBoy will play some on his PC -- to him its playing. Like he'll zip up all his recipe files gathered from the past week. This, too, will free up disk space. He'll need to some research on his blog as the comments section is still not working. Maybe he'll have time to try it from the office. That might make for a better check.

PoBoy reflects on his own grandparents and trys to recall what they did to occupy themselves. On his mother's side, his grandmother was a workacholic. Even at 76 she was still working. She painted her home, a two story home in Connecticut. She did all the regular things like washing clothes, and washing dishes. For extra money she took in sewing and mending from her son who owned a dry cleaners establishment. PoBoy and sister would visit and she seemed to enjoy that.

PoBoy and his sister would come to visit her for the whole summer. Once out of school for the summer, his mother would help pack up their things and send them off to grandsmother's place. There they would remain, except for a two week span of time, when their father would pick them up for his annual two week visitation.

Being with Dad was great fun, even though he had remarried. They would go on picnics, swim in the lake, take boat rides in a local lake, visit some amusement parks and just cut up for fun times. Playing cards, like hearts and pinocle were a family past time. In fact, some of the most wonderful times had in youth were at family get-togethers for great card playing events. His grandmother on his father's side loved to play cards and also belonged to a local bridge club.

PoBoy and his sister would on those days wait for grandmother to return. It was on those momentous occassions when she and her partner had one the bridge playoff that was as thrilling for PoBoy and sister as it was for grandmother. They would sing and dance and have cinnamon rolls with butter and milk and coffee for the adults. What wonderful days. PoBoy hopes it was as wonderful for them as it was for him.

But old PoBoy has nothing like that to look forward to. He's going to a nice place, alone, wanting to share with someone what almost cost him his life. He realizes that his predicament was of his own doing but it has been said that people change.

For the next four months he has his puppies and kitties to cling to. They have been part of his life since he began his dream to move to Florida. In four months he will have to leave his beloved furries. Of course, if he wants, he can get new puppies after he arrives, but none will ever take the place of those he left behind.

Can PoBoy change in four months? Can he become a more social person to make new friends? Can he find someone to share his few remaining years? Or will he remain the PoBoy, the happy online internet person that loves for people to laugh with him? Very deep questions, PoBoy, but you'd better make a decision soon or it will definitely be too late. His puppies are at his feet, they look at him, and he feels the sadness begin again. Cheerup old PoBoy, you may still have time.

Too Much Pressure -- The Tire Pops

Tuesday, May 20, 2008What a night? Came home from work expecting to setup his wireless router he purchased about a week ago, but PoBoy had even more problems. Somewhere something is not cooperating. The Belkins wireless seems to work. Comcast cable box seemed to work but still no connection. The folks were here 3 hours trying to get everything to work, and the lady is coming back tomorrow afternoon to try again. Bless her heart. However, once they left they said I was on the internet. But this was not true as the "Comcast" box was not functioning and unable to get internet access. This is about the 5th or 6th time that I have had trouble with their equipment. Then you call with huge wait times for customer service and you can't even get a native American on the line so you can understand what is being said. No. You get one of those illegal aliens that speak much english -- oh! you can make out a word about every tenth word or so. We the Americans are a minority in our own country. It's just not comcast, but other large organizations have the same exact talent.

Wednesday May 21, 2008Again the PoBoy came home from work. The folks had said they would probably already have the router setup before he came home. PoBoy observed their car in his driveway. His heart sunk as he expected the worse.

Sure enough the folks were busily at work on the router. About 6:30, they had to place a phone call to Belkins. They could not get it to work. PoBoy still believed it was in the cable box, as he had on several past occassions had to return the box for replacement.

After about a 10 minute conversation with Belkins, they told the folks that it would require the expertise of a higher tech and that tech would call back in five minutes. About 45 minutes later, the folks called Belkins again.

Like all major companies you never seem to get the original person you were speaking with originally. Tonight was no different, the folks had to go back over what the problem was and how the other party had tried to help and that they had waited forty-five minutes for a return call. The new guy went over the procedure to the point they had reached before, and then it was the "secret" number thing where they were stumped. The new tech told them to enter a certain number and both the cable box and the Belkins lit up. Everything worked again. PoBoy was wrong. It wasn't the comcast cable box.

Last came the going over the different parts of the "new-used" laptop. PoBoy had them take it out to the dining room, about 30 feet from his bedroom, separated by a wall, and see if it would work there. Sure enough it worked like a dream. They showed him how to start the machine and what to do at shut down. They checked the internet setup up. Everything worked fine. Finally a they showed him how the little round ball that looked like a diving helmet worked. It's a cam. Not sure if that works as you need someone on the other end of the line to accept your cam, but the little green light did come on. PoBoy is in business now.

Now it was close to 9:30 and after getting ready for bed, he crawled in with the puppies around 10:00. The puppies were tired out too. Each of them slept through the night all snuggled against the PoBoy as did one of the kitties. PoBoy relaxed and fell to sleep.

Thursday, May 22, 2008Today was the PoBoy's birthday. He reached the age of 66. Funny for the longest time, he believed he'd die before 65 as did is mother. But surprise, your old PoBoy is still here.

The office bought lunch for everyone in celebration of PoBoy's birthday. They had sub sandwiches. Pretty good too. Everyone chattered about the upcoming conference, June 12-14, 2008, in Bay City, Michigan. Because of lack of funds these days, PoBoy would not do the whole conference. He is suppose to arrive on Friday the 13th, oh my god! He suddenly realized that it was going to be Friday the 13th. He wonders what kind of fun that day will bring.

He called Avis to check on a rental vehicle for the 36 hour adventure, and it will cost about $54.00 plus gas providing he gets the car back on time. The 202 mile round trip will take a couple of hours each way.

Oh his way home from work that day, the traffic was bottlenecked for four or five miles. PoBoy new about the road construction, single lane going each direction because the other two lanes don't exist at the moment, but generally the traffic flow moves slowly but steady. Not this day. Bumper to bumper they inched there way toward the end of the construction zone.

About 3/4 of the way PoBoy saw the problem. A young man lay face down in the four foot high, 16 foot wide, two center lanes dug up for repair, with his motorcycle about 30 feet from him. He heard later that someone had hit the motorcycle from behind and flipped the man into the lanes that had been dug up. PoBoy flinched as he tried to figure how they would ever get an ambulance in their to help the man. There just was no room at all. Can't stop though or the traffic will become worse. Funny how it makes PoBoy feel so bad and helpless not to be able to help. In fact other then a woman bending over the prone man, who's face was still in the dirt, not even the construction workers came to his aid.

Friday, May 23, 2008Well today is the last day of the week, thought PoBoy. It's even better because he will have 3 days to rest and regain his composure. The heart doctor made arrangements for him to speak to a ministerial/emotional counselor. The doctor believes PoBoy had been under more stress then he could handle by himself. The doctor also believed that it was this stress that not only was a significant factor in his heart attack, but also a definite possiblity of why his blood pressure was still running high --- 163/92.

"Come in PoBoy," Ralph Roberston said. "I hear you might be having some severe emotional problems and possibly causing your blood pressure to remain high." Well, PoBoy said, that's what the doctor thinks. "PoBoy, do you know that stress is a main factor in heart attacks?" Mr. Robertson, I don't think I've ever known exactly what stress is, PoBoy replied. "Well PoBoy, because of stress your heart works harder then its desirable limits. When that happens something has to give -- in your case, your heart just gave up."

The first interview was short and sweet. PoBoy had to admit he found Ralph to be a nice and knowledgable person. In a way, PoBoy looked forward to his next visit.
